"It's a global network, nothing will be the same!"
The goal of this project is to demonstrate the idea that a musical artist can use a cryptocurrency (token) sale to fund the creation of a musical work (playlist). The playlist we will create is called 'Local', and the cryptocurrency we will issue is the ‘Local Token’ with the ticker symbol (LOT). These cryptocurrencies are a tokenized digital representation of the music. Local will feature 7 independently created songs. Ownership of Local will be represented by an individual's quantity of LOT. By creating a 7 song musical playlist, called Local, and hosting a token sale to fund production, we will decentralize capital acquisition and distribute musical ownership of the playlist to token holders. Though token holders cannot receive royalties on the music, they can spend their tokens on merchandise, events, and fiat. Ownership is therefore fungible and liquid, which allows listeners to abstract a new level of stake in their favorite music. Future artists may use this model to raise the financial capital needed to complete their mixtape, playlist, or album successfully and strengthen their connection with fans by sharing musical ownership.
Local is an originally created 7-song musical playlist that represents the art that will be tokenized. A playlist is a collection of songs that lies in the middle of the mixtape to album spectrum. This musical concept was popularized by the artist Drake and Apple Music when they released the ‘More Life’ playlist. There will be songs about life, challenges, rejection, and blockchain. In total, Local will launch with 7 original tracks, featuring genres like pop, hiphop, and reggae. Lyrics will be primarily written by Ivy and the team at Ivy Music, LLC.
Local Token (LOT) is the fungible, liquid, digital representation of the Local playlist. The ticker symbol for Local Token is LOT. LOT is an ERC-20 token and is native to the Ethereum blockchain. The purpose of LOT is to serve as a financial medium to raise the capital needed to complete Local and to represent ownership of the playlist. The capital raised will be used to finance playlist production, studio recording time, videography costs, and other associated playlist creating expenses. Furthermore, LOT can also be used to attend events (interviews, meetings, concerts, shows), redeem merchandise, and be featured in exclusive content like music videos.
